The best time to visit Chitwan is from October to March when the weather is pleasant and dry, making wildlife spotting easier. February and March are particularly good for wildlife sightings as animals come out to water sources. Avoid the monsoon season (June-September) when the park is often closed due to flooding.
Chitwan is located about 150 km southwest of Kathmandu in the Terai plains.
Flights to Bharatpur Airport from Kathmandu take about 25 minutes. The airport is about 20 km from Sauraha, the main tourist area (30-40 minutes drive).
Tourist buses from Kathmandu or Pokhara take 5-6 hours. Most hotels and resorts offer pickup services from the bus stop. Private cars and shared jeeps are also available.
